11 weeks! :)

I can't believe that it's already been a week since, well, last week!

Let's see what's up with pumpkin developmentally-wise:

- Baby is about 2 inches long.
- Baby's ears are in the proper place!
- Baby's privates are beginning to develop
- Baby is moving all over the place, and soon I'll be able to feel it!

It is quite obvious that I'm pregnant. From the outside, I mean. A stranger asked when I was due the other day. I was not expecting to "show" quite so early. Everything in my belly is being rearranged to make room for my growing uterus, and I am nice and bloated. People like to say that you aren't showing until it's all baby, but I wouldn't be "showing" if I wasn't pregnant, and people have noticed! I am going to enjoy it. After everything I've been through, I deserve to enjoy this pregnancy as much as possible!

10 Weeks and Appointment Update

I am 10 weeks pregnant today! Only 10 more weeks until our 20 week ultrasound, although we may get one earlier through an ultrasound school. It's crazy to me that I am halfway through the first half of my pregnancy. I am hoping that the rest of it zips by. I can hear Baby's heartbeat whenever I want now, and it reads at 160 BPM - 170 BPM.

Let's see what's up with Baby this week:

-  Baby is a little larger than a cherry tomato!
-  Baby has begun to practice swallowing amniotic fluid!
-  All of our little one's organs are function this week, including the brain and liver!
-  Tiny nails are forming on baby's fingers and toes!
-  He's covered in peach fuzz!

I must correct a mistake that I made in last week's update. Week 10 is the week that baby goes from the embryonic stage to the fetal development stage.

Here's a look at what a baby looks like at this stage. Pretty awesome, right?

As for my appointment, well let's just say that it was extremely uneventful. I had a doctor who I've never seen before, who was dressed in cowboy boots and jeans and was a much older guy. At least, I think that he was a doctor. He didn't introduce himself, so who knows. He was extremely unprofessional and I was very disappointed. I go back in exactly 4 weeks, at which point I will be 14 weeks and officially, 100% out of this trimester. (Note: many of the risks associated with the 1st trimester have already dissipated by the stage that I am at now).

I have 2 hearts in me!

Last night I was able to find Baby's heartbeat for a pretty long time! It was too quiet to hear on the video that I recorded with my phone, and the BPM (beats per minute) didn't read, but I got to listen to it for a good long while. I'm not the only one, either, Daddy heard too! It really is the most amazing thing in the world to hear that precious little heartbeat.

Here are the videos from this afternoon:

Enjoy! I sure do!

9 weeks

I would like to document this pregnancy as best as possible, so let's get started! I am actually 9 weeks, 4 days today, so closer to 10 weeks. Can you believe it!?

Let's see what's happening this week:

- Baby has graduated from an embryo, to a fetus!
- My little itsy bitsy is a little over an inch long, and weighs just a fraction of an ounce!
- Fingers and toes are no longer webbed, and joints are fully functional.
- Almost all of the organs are beginning to function!
- Baby has little tiny earlobes!
- Most of his/her physiology is in place, now it's just time to get big and strong!

Here is an awesome video of a 9 week old fetus. That's what my little one looks like!

As for me, I am extremely exhausted and battling an endless cycle of nausea/hunger. I am good and bloated and look far more pregnant than I actually am.  I can't wait for that to be baby, instead of water weight!

We have started the name discussions, but so far they haven't gone very well. Good thing we've got months to go before I pop! I am starting to really look forward to finding out the sex of the baby. Quite honestly, I "feel" like it's a boy and refer to it is a "he" without even thinking. However, I am well aware that there is just no way of knowing until, well, we know! I have a doctor's appointment on Thursday, and I will be 10 weeks. I can't wait!  I have found the heartbeat with my home Doppler a few times, but not for very long. I'm hoping that the doctor will have better luck.
